All right, I've started rebuilding the site, so that the forum more closely matches the rest of the site, and vice versa. This possibly means that I will be merging them much more closely. For example, I'm considering having a 'news' board that shows up as the front page that doesn't have all the stuff like what board it is, view unanswered posts, etc. Also this would make it so that you as the user could get to your account stuff from any page on the site. This would be a major step forward, but before that happens I want to make sure that this PHPBB looks right, and that the site it would be slowly replacing also looks right.

I started this before, and never got that far. I'm done with high school now, and only have four classes for my first college term. I've got some free time here. I am starting with layout, more or less disregarding color scheme for now. Today, I've implemented the nav bar from the main site onto the forums (finally). I don't think it looks as good as it could, though. It's a lot of extra space underneath it, where other things could go. I was thinking of moving the stuff right under the header image down below, into a Members section of the left bar. I want your opinions on this move.

Also, as I will be making a ton of changes to the site, there are going to be things that I miss. I know SoF wants a shoutbox again, which I still plan to do, but is there anything else that I should do? Please let me know here. Go through the site (including GP Games, although I have no idea what I want to do with it and it doesn't fit any more), find what still needs to be done, and tell me about it here. Even small things, like images that need a recolor. Please post it here, so I can make sure I do it.

Thank you for all your help! Hopefully we'll get this done quickly, and we can start moving in that new community of ours. I'm going to announce the image challenges soon.

Oh, and for the mods out there. I moved the ACP link to the left, under the nav bar.

Well, I can't really find anything in my opinion that needs added, except the shout box. Cause that did seem to bring at least a few more people here, though they never really posted, at least they came.

As for the members stuff from the header being moved to the nav, I think that would be a good idea. It seems it would match the site layout better then it does right now. I can't really find anything else that needs added. But so far what you've done does appear nice, and I did notice the big empty space you mentioned about the nav bar in the forums..

Perhaps you could have special links in there? Like maybe we can try and start a SotW (Signature of the Week) type thing... or a SotM (Signature of the Month) and have a direct link to it in the nav bar?

Oh, and bear in mind as you suggest things that there are many different Mods for PHPBB3 that might fill the role you're thinking of. I've never had good luck with mods, especially since I've changed our version of the theme so much, but I will look at them.

Well, I just think that doing that might help fill in that huge empty space.. maybe have a link to the Official GP RPG when it's made?

I have now done some color changes. Thoughts? Point out anything you guys aren't happy with color-wise.

Actually, it's really nice. Only problem I have is in the gray, it's just that much harder to read the red font of your name.. lol

Darkened the 'gray'. What do you think?

Oh, and what should be done about that blue bar always at the top? Should it change? What do we change it to?

Well, it seems to match everything just that much more.
The red color for the Administrators isn't nearly as fuzzy now, which is something I was hoping for!
It being fuzzy to me looked horrible, and so I was hoping the forums colors would fix it, or it get changed... well, one of them happened :)

That is a tough call, because you have the grayish green below it most of the time, and the gradient green above it... I'm not sure what it can be changed to in order to match things, but for some reason it doesn't seem to bother me that much at all.

Ooh, pick me, pick me!

I'm almost done with the prologue of volume one of Elemental Inpact.
You can put that in the game section, since the site is somewhat involved.

...and I thought you said something about picking new mods...

He did say something about picking new mods.
You've just gotta be patient, and see who he decides to make in the end.
In the other topic, he asks who you think would make good mods and such... lol

I don't really think we have enough active members to vote for new mods

He's planning for the future and using those that frequent now. I mean, if we frequent during this time of inactivity, what are the odds of us not sticking around to do our jobs?

SvA hit it right on the money on this note. Three60 is looking at those that stuck around even during the time that this site seemed dead. He'll be going based on their activity right now to make new mods, and keep the current.

Anyways... as for the current mods being kept as mods, I believe SvA and SoF should be kept, but I don't really think MMS or 6000 should be left as moderators, simply because I don't think they've really be active at all for awhile... I may be wrong, simply stating something I've noticed.

EDIT:

Okay, did a little bit of looking, to see if my statement about MMS and 6000 was right, and here is what I've noticed.

shadow6000: Last visited: 16 Jul 2009, 7:59 PM (Central time)
Metal Shadow X: Last visited: 16 Aug 2009, 8:57 PM (Central time)
General MMS: Last visited: 01 Sep 2009, 4:28 PM (Central time)

So, MMS has been on very recently, while 6K hasn't been on for 6 weeks, and tomorrow will mark the second week since Metal has been on. I just felt like grabbing this info, so that we can better figure out just what mods should be kept as mods.

Mods have never been important on this forum since there is never something that needs to be modded. In fact, most mods in here just abuse their power slightly rather than actually use it for something.

That's where you're wrong, adrian!
The mods also help when it comes to any kind of editing, any kind of warnings or such.
You don't always see the work the mods do, you never see it, unless it's announced.

Trust me, I've been an admin, and a mod on many sites!
